The Untold Secrets & Benefits of Becoming a Trucker

Truckers are one of the great inhabitants of our country’s network of interstates. Although these big rigs appear as merely a mode of transporting goods, a common site on our daily commutes, there are many untold secrets and benefits of the trucking industry that only a person behind a semi wheel will experience.

Contrary to popular belief, trucking doesn’t have to be a lonely job. In fact, it’s common for drivers to haul in pairs. Not only does this add an element of companionship, but it also alleviates hours behind the wheel. At Oakley

Transport, we have multiple driver duos and are always open to having more pairs climb aboard our team.

Obtaining a commercial driver’s license and qualifying to drive a big rig can be quite simple. Once you turn 21 and hold a regular drivers license, you can begin the process of earning a CDL. Once you pass your written exam and practical test you’ll be handed a license, authorizing you to drive semis and other large vehicles, like buses. Developing into a quality professional requires time out
on the road and landing a job at a top-tier company that places priority on their drivers. At Oakley Transport, we treat each of our drivers like family because we realize they are the cornerstone of our business.

Unlike a typical 9-5 job that warrants the same pay check every month, truckers are often paid by mile, meaning that a pay check will always reflect your hard work. Are you ambitious and resilient on the road? Trucking may be your next professional career, and it could be at Oakley Transport.

Not only do we pay our drivers by mile, and pay them well, but we also nurture a family environment that makes the driver feel cared for and supported. With Oakley Transport, your hard work never goes unnoticed.

Many drivers within the trucking industry are considered veterans of the road. However, once they reach retirement, a gap will be left to fill with new talent. Are you interested in a different route than college? Learning the trade of trucking can expedite the launch of a respected career. Because our country cannot operate without truckers, not only would you play a pivotal part in a company’s supply chain as a driver, but you would also become one of your country’s most important employees, keeping the well-oiled machine we call the U.S. alive and thriving. You will become a true legend of the road. Are you ready to make your mark?

Thanks for pointing out that truckers are paid by mile so their paycheck will reflect their hard work. I will share this with my brother on Monday because he will be applying to be a trucker to support his two sons. I will also advise him to look for a reliable company that can offer excellent pay and high earnings with retirement planning benefits.

I thought it was interesting when you mentioned that truckers are often paid by the mile. My friend is thinking about becoming a truck driver. It seems like my friend will have to be willing to do a lot of driving to make good money.

I had no idea that truckers were paid by the mile instead of a salary. That makes sense since sometimes they have to drive farther or be away for longer. My son is thinking about becoming a truck driver and I think it'd a viable option for him at this point.

Not long ago, one of my cousins mentioned he wants to find a new career because he's tired of his 9-to-5 job. That's why I'm sure that he'll be glad to hear about becoming a truck driver and how he'd get started, so I'll talk to my cousin later. Thanks for the information on getting a commercial driver's license.
